Many of the students of class 1- 9 and of 10th and 12th of few states are super happy that they have been directly promoted to the next class, but many of the students who are at their career deciding point, such as those of undergrads and masters' are very stressed under such circumstances. In fact, students who are appearing for boards or for entrance exams are in severe dilemma as they lack proper preparation structure.
The news of lockdown extension had forced many institutions to postpone exams thereby causing you lose that connect which you had with your studying habits last year. And, now the news of all important exams lined up together had been dropped like a bomb on students' head. If you are a regular student, you can still call yourself lucky(be optimistic bruh!!!) as this particular news can be highly tormentous for those who have piled up quite a lot of backlogs! Andddd if you're a student with many backlogs then you're more lucky that you will have higher chances of clearing them due to the reduced bars of passing marks! Yayyy, be optimistic now and let's get started!
Hence, to lighten the exam pressure of yours, I have decided to pen down this blog-post on how to prepare for your exams well and excel in them/pass out with flying colours, here are a few tricks, a couple of tips and hacks that I have learnt and personally applied during my college days and had scored well because of them. I hope these tips would work as a great saviour for you as well! So, let's begin!
TIPS/HACKS TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS DURING THIS LOCKDOWN EXTENSION:
1.KNOW YOUR SYLLABUS
This is the first and the foremost requirement to face any exam. You must know your syllabus very thoroughly. Only knowing the names of the Units wouldn't suffice, know its chapters, topics and subtopics as well.
PRO TIP: You must google the names of your subtopics as it will make you aware with the gist of entire subtopic within few minutes and will save a lot of your time if you're a noob at it.
2. STAY WELL-CONNECTED WITH YOUR TEACHERS OF RESPECTIVE SUBJECTS
Being in contact with your teacher/professor really helps! You can ask them about the schedule of your online revision classes, you can discuss about your preparation pattern with them and most importantly - always, always and always ask doubts to them so that they can explain it to you in different ways and you can replicate the same as your answers in exam and if you struggle with understanding the complex jargon of your subject, vernacular language teaching will help you to arrive at the easy terminologies so that you can frame answers on your own. You can also take your parents' or siblings' help to understand few topics.
3. STOP PROCRASTINATION
Now, there are many who don't take exams seriously and they might think that 1) There's still a lot of time, 2)This pandemic will lead to less stricter exams than BC (before Corona) 3)I want to play now, I will study later, etc. You all must make sure that it is your serious attempt and no matter how relaxed rules are, at an examination centre, it is still your career deciding one and you cannot risk it all now!
4. MAKE A SCHEDULE AND FOLLOW IT
Making a daily and a weekly schedule and following it and checking if you've reached your "target for the day" is a great way to finish off your syllabus little by little every single day. Reaching those targets in time will boost you, motivate you and will make you achieve your high quality preparation in a very little quantity of time.
5. ARRANGE EQUIPMENTS
1) There are many who don't own a phone. In that case, you can ask your parents for their phone or tab or laptop for your preparation.
2) Make sure you don't end up wasting your data by enabling all the data saving settings. Internet speed must be good and also get yourself used to online mode of education.
3) If you don't have books, do not panic. You can download PDF files from internet or you can even tell your friends to send you the images in a PDF file. (TIP: Scanner apps works great and saves a lot of your time for making PDFs and you can make PDFs on Google DOCs as well).
6. AVOID DISTRACTIONS
1) If you're using phone for an online class, you can turn off notifications in your settings to avoid distractions during your lessons.
2) If you aren't attending any online class and you're just reading from PDF or from images in your gallery, then you can turn your phone's data off or put it in Airplane mode to avoid notifications from social media and friends.
3) Taking breaks in between helps but avoid taking 1 hour break after every 10 minutes :p. Best would be 50 minute of preparation with 10 minutes of break. Also avoid using phone during these breaks as it can hamper your concentration levels.
7. KNOW WHAT TO READ AND HOW TO READ
PRO TIP - You can take the soft copies of highlighted lessons from friends' books and reading only the highlighted part will save you a lot of time.
1) Get a green tea if you are down on energy and concentration levels.
2) Reading a lesson from official textbooks than memorizing answers from any other material is a really good tip. They both take same amount of time and by just glancing through a lesson, you'll get the gist of it and it will help you to answer many questions given from that lesson, whereas memorizing one answer from other material can help you with only that "one" specific answer.
3) Practice diagrams, flow charts and its presentation very well! These things actually improves the quality of your answers and hence, you will end up scoring great!
4) Read all the important questions given at the end of the material (Previous Year Questions). You can expect at least fifty to seventy percent of the questions from the previous years' question papers.
5) Practice solving All in One books and Previous years' question papers and Question banks.
6) If you're preparing for entrance exams, then make sure to attempt good number of mock tests.
7)Avoid IPL if it's needed!!
8) Update yourself with current affairs even if your exam doesn't require it! It will be like an add-on benefit for your future interviews and also for expanding your General Knowledge!
So, that's pretty it! I hope it helps you! Thank you for making it till the end of this post!
